A Guide to Insurance for Medical Travel
Increasing numbers of people are going overseas for dental and other medical treatments abroad.
Considerable amounts of information have been written about insurance. However, much of what has been said about insurance and overseas treatment is either misleading, wrong or fails to understand the relationship between insurance and overseas treatment.
Questions our patients frequently ask us are: Does my health insurance cover the treatment? Can I get special insurance for medical travel? What about travel insurance?
In truth, large amounts of information on this topic are misleading and even some providers who claim to offer insurance often have little idea about the limitations of their offerings.
The insurance industry has been very slow in coming to terms with this growing trend, and although products are being developed, very few are currently available. These sections apply to residents of the UK, and although much applies equally to other countries, there can be local variations.
New product for medical health travel is designed specifically for people travelling abroad in order to obtain dental and other medical care.
Insurance provider for Medical Travel
Health Traveller has been designed by Marcus Hearn specifically for those persons travelling abroad in order to obtain medical and dental treatment.
Although there is no cover for your medical or cosmetic reason for travel, the policy removes one of the standard exclusions in travel insurance contracts of 'travelling for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment'. Standard travel insurance policies will generally automatically exclude ALL cover if you are travelling to obtain medical treatment.
